Avian Aspergillosis

Avian aspergillosis is caused by a filamentous fungus, Aspergillus fumigatus, but there are others such as A. flavus, A. niger, A. and A. nidulans terreus can also produce (1.5). The spores of these fungi are widely distributed in the environment and many birds can carry up to stimuli such as immunosuppression or stress triggers the onset of clinical symptoms such as loss of appetite, lethargy, loss weight, dyspnea, sometimes diarrhea and abnormal behavior and posture. The disease is usually a respiratory tract infection, although it can enter the blood (3,5).
Because the symptoms of the disease depend on several factors, clinical signs alone do not have a reliable basis for the diagnosis of avian aspergillosis, which is further complicated by the variety of pathogens associated with (2.5).
